There is a FORWARD (i.e. a theory on GOOD décor acquisition)
FORWARD: WHY BOTHER WITH THE COMPLEX, EXHAUSTING WORLD OF SO-CALLED “VINTAGE”?
The following LIST OF WORLD’S BEST DÉCOR SOURCES is certainly, and honestly, not about “SHOPPING”. WE NEVER “SHOP”, personally. And, we suggest, nor should you. To shop feels so aimless and blind. Instead, we recommend CONSTANT OBSERVATION and OCCASIONAL ACQUISITION.
MEGA QUICKLY:
Function, because we are corporeal and we need stuff.
Sign value, because we have complex socio-emotional lives.
It’s why we’re so f*cking sick of all this “TREND”-driven drivel (CONSTANT! CONSTANT! CONSTANT!), because it doesn’t ask you to CONNECT with your décor. It asks only for your participation in the DÉCOR-INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX.
AND SO…
It is why we so often appreciate “VINTAGE” above much else..
WE QUOTE, from ourselves, in LOCAL OPTIMIST ISSUE 3 (CAPS are ours):
“The thrill of domestic décor is the SELF-EXPRESSIVE RECONTEXTUALIZATION OF STUFF. The skill of arrangement and rearrangement, the sheer confidence to avoid ‘trend’ and to explore one’s own tastes — all are highly satisfying and INSTRUCTIVE.
It is also why the excavation of so-called ‘vintage’ furnishings is an incredible thrill (and is currently of unparalleled popularity). To yank some decades-old niche chunk of plastic out from the rubble of time and say to the world, ‘I declare this RELEVANT!’ is electrifying. West Elm simply cannot produce this kind of sense of achievement.”
And yet, to excavate is decidedly A TON OF F*CKING WORK. (1) To find; (2) To reconsider; (3) To re-present !!!!! It is precious work.
And it is done BEST IN THE WORLD by these folks. (BELOW.)

NOTES:
Price points be damned-and-blurred, but generally speaking: “treats, but approachable; occasional masterpieces”.
LET THIS ALSO SERVE as “DÉCOR TOUR GUIDE”, as many have BRICKS AND MORTAR spaces are retail hours, meaning: if you’re in London, visit [REDACTED]; if you’re in NAPLES, F.L., definitely go to [REDACTED].
AND, FINALLY:
All are welcome to leave RECOMMENDATIONS in COMMENTS. They will be reviewed and added to MAIN LIST.
