FOR SCALE XL: 90s HALOGENS AND KNIFES AND FORKS
Many links for buying: the resurgence of the mini-halo lamp, and ILOVECRAIGSLIST selects delightful utensils
Dear Snoops,
Today is a little buying guide, based on one domestic revival (THE MINI HALOGEN LAMP) and a report from FOR SCALE super-pal ILOVECRAISLIST on the most enjoyable-to-handle cutlery currently listed on the Intern*t.
A. “GOOD FORKING” REPORT
Cutlery, in the FOR SCALE world, shares a category with DOOR HANDLES, because: (1) we handle them more than most other things in the domestic sphere, BUT (2) are also some of the most after-thoughty elements of décor.
We are mega-pleased that someone else, i.e. the divine Madison Brill of I.L.Craigslist, has done some heavy listing for us.
B. THE DEATH OF INCANDESCENT, THE SWAN SONG OF HALOGEN
In a classic defiance of a failing world, the umbrella-like halogen – a half-step better and longer-lasting than that now-banned-ish incandescent – is finding a really swan song moment.
The mini-halo is somewhat of an antidote to how over the top and intrusive the LAMP WORLD has become, as represented perhaps by popularity of the largest-possible-paper-latern pendant (which, let’s be clear, is very charming!). Others seem to be looking in a different direction: itty bitty, mushroom-cap sized pops of light.
We mean this kind:
