Reading this on the same day I read NYT mag's recent profile on production design legend Jack Fisk was a piece of serendipity. He's clearly a master of charm as defined here -- see the sets of Days of Heaven, There Will Be Blood, or Badlands. Nothing cutesy, but a great deal of embodied/expressed humanity that I find admirable, attractive, and delightful as they do the job of illustrating characters and shaping worlds while remaining, by definition, in the background.
