Ugh! This is fabulous! We are doing a full gut and remodel of our 1950's ranch-style home this year and were able to eek out a small room were, until now, calling the game room, but will now be renamed the "rec room." I am seriously considering coving one wall with plaid fabric and I'm now on the hunt for a denim couch just like the one we had in the 80s
I am old and so grew up in rec room land and the best one I ever saw had a wall to wall carpet with games woven into it like hopscotch and chess. There were indeed tweed plaid sofas, and also fishnets on the wood paneled walls and a lobster trap coffee table and a lighthouse lamp. You kids are on to something!
Love this! Our someday ‘house attic expansion’ we are thinking about is suddenly clear to me, we want a rec room in our attic! We just didn’t know what name to give our longing. Also *hidden value, a place to put the cat/dog beaten couch. And start over. Yes. Yes. yes.
THE "REC ROOM" PHILOSOPHY
